Today, NATaT sent House and Senate leaders a letter detailing their policy priorities for any future COVID-19 relief packages. These priorities include a new rural development grant program for local governments, a coronavirus relief fund for smaller governments (i.e. those with communities under 500,000), payroll tax credit for public employers offering emergency paid leave, expanded broadband access, the Municipal Bond Emergency Relief Act, elimination limits on the state and local tax deduction, reinstatement of advance refunding, and the expansion of the Paycheck Protection Program to include 501(c)4 organizations.
As the voice of local governments, NATaT believes that these priorities and programs will best help small and rural communities affected by the coronavirus.
