1,500 Local Officials Deliver Letter to Congress Opposing Bigger Tractor-Trailers

More than 1,500 local government leaders and organizations from across the country, including NATaT-member state associations and individual NATaT members, signed a letter asking Congress to oppose any increases in truck size or weight, including heavier single-trailer trucks. The letter said longer and heavier trucks would cause significantly more damage to transportation infrastructure, including local and rural roads and bridges, which are older and not built to the same standards as Interstates. The Coalition Against Bigger Trucks organized the letter, which was sent to all Members of Congress on September 11, 2023.
